Ajinkya Rahane – New Indian Captain

Team India shall tour Zimbabwe in the second week of july 2015. Key players including, MS Dhoni and Kholi have been rested along with few other senior players in the Indian national squad.

Players like Harbhajan Singh, Murali Vijay and few others are getting into the national side to prove their worth, but none greater than Ajinkya Rahane. While this out come may not have been a surprise for the new captain its definitely a surprise news for all Indian fans.

Ajinkya Rahane – Captain Team India

Born in Maharashtra in 1988, the 27 year old had played for different major teams like India, India A, Mumbai Indians, Rajastan Royals and few others.

The right handed bats man had played 55 international matches for Team India and scored over 1500 runs in his over all carrier. With 2 ODI 100’s and 9 ODI 50’s he holds an batting average of 30 which is quite good for a middle order bats man.

His performance in the recently held Bangladesh series has not been a convincing; however, 23rd Indian ODI captain surely has great tactic and skill. His leadership skill were not tested sofar in the International Arena.

His performance in the Ranji Trophy and resting few key players for the tour has resulted in only 2 choices to pick up a captain. Harbhajan Singh or Rahane; and the selectors have made their decision to pick up Rahane as the new Indian Captain.

The new Indian captain holds a junior black belt in karate. He joined karate session when he was 9 years old.

Rahane loves seafood. Prawn and pomfret in particular. When the new captain finds some time, he would spend some time in the seafood restaurants with friends.

He is not a party person but loves watching movies.
