Indian markets are getting ready with cheaper solutions to provide some descent tablets for the indian audiance who cannot afford to go for higher range tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab or iPad2. Mercury mTab comes in that range. Few cheap range tablets tabs (Reliance Tablet, beetel magiq) were already announced recently and its time for mercury to show what they have for us.

Unlike beetel, the mercury tablet comes with android 2.3 operating system and 1.2 GHz 3-Core processor and 512 MB of RAM. Now, that’s pretty descent specs for the price tab they placed on the device. The tablet has inbuilt 4 GB memory and can be extended to 16 GB if you wish.
7-inch WVGA TFT LCD touch display with a 1.3 MP camera are the other features to look at. Our source says that the tab will not have inbuild 3G, however you can plugin 3G dongle to surf internet on the go. For a price tag of 9,499 rupees, the tab certainly has edge on the other cheap tablets available in the market.

I would advise you to go for Samsung Galaxy P1010 which is a WIFI only version. You can get it for Rs. 12499 at Indiaplaza after ICICI discount. I had experience using the Ingenium tablet which essentially has been morphed as Mercury mTab. And Ingenium tablet is just a piece of junk.

What type of screen does mTAB have?
Now Android mTAB PC all use resistive touch screen, you may get used to use capacity touch screen anduse same method to control resistive touch screen. You should change your method, use your finger nailor finger tip to control it, you will find it is sensitive.
Well, I bought the original OEM Ingenium Chinavision tablet (which probably is rebranded as Mercury mTab). But I had to return it because of the poor display resolution. My 7k odd Dell XCD35 has got a much better awesome display. Also the touch is a bit shaky. Swipe through lists and something or the other gets selected which is quite bad. So I would recommend guys to first get a feel in a physical store before this Mercucy mTab. I have made up my mind now to buy a tablet from an established brand…ofcourse first get a feel of it in a store.

I had called digital waves system, the one at Malleshwaram Bangalore. They said that the product is now available and you can visit the store for demo of the tab. They said price is around Rs.9900. i don’t think so they will increase the price.
When I contacted Digitalwaves.in, they asked me to deposit money with their Bank account and the tab will be delivered on Thursday. But this conversation happened through mail. So I was hesitant to buy.
The price quoted by sales folks was 10,150 including shipping. And they also hinted at increasing the price by 10% after sales of first 100 mTabs, owing to depreciation of rupee against dollar.
Anyways, India365 admin..please do drop an email once mTab is available for online purchase.

Yes it has Mini HDMI port (720P/1080i HDMI HD output)
SIM slot is not inbuilt. that’s why we can use dongle to play with 3G SIM.

No doubt it’s an early age miracle and I too want to be a part of this evolution. May be in nxt couple of months we will see some more fully packed tablet in low budget but we leave in present
one doubt is in my mind and it’s about the 3 core CPU(CPU+GPU+VPU). May be it response different task simultaneously.., but what about 1.2 Ghz(upto) ???
About the availability, company always wish to reach market asap but there are certain things in business. Mercury have done awesome job till now and I did receive reply in an hour from kobian Team with the details of Distributor i asked about. Hat’z off.

“Mercury launched 3G Tablet at 9,499Rs”….. so it may be…not that sure.
Looking at the specification of mtab, i feel that the features are much better than a 15000 RS tablet. Hence desperately waiting for it.

Other tabs in this price range are
1) Reliance 3G tab at Rs.13000 , but you are locked to use reliance 3G network and that too it is only available at 13 circles in India.(Still not launched in South India
2) other tabs like beetel magiq, Iball slide, HCL me tab either have low processor speed < 800 Mhz.. or have resistive screen or do not have pinch to zoom feature or are running on lower versions of Android. Looking at all these tab, Mercury tab is a clear winner considering the price point as well, but still we need to get the hands on review of the tab.

yaar itna time. ye mercury ki kaise services hai. launch hone kay 18 din baad bhi availbility ka pata nahi. Mere ko to shuk hai ye Services kaise degy.

Even if you order it in bulk, who will pay the cash and who will distribute it to the proper shipping address and what happens if there is problem with the shipping.

If u want to go for a tablet pc, so please wait, at the end of this year you have many options to buy tablet pc, Micromax and G-five will also introduce the blasting tablet which is low in cost but fully loaded…
