Cyber Attacks and Social Networking Security Tips

Cyber crimes are threatening the world to a great extent. Symantec, a leading antivirus company has reported that India stands among the top 5 nations that launch Cyber attacks. The subcontinent was ranked 11th in the previous year but managed to get its position to 5th in the previous year. It is said that over 16 percent of attacks were made from the country in the year 2009.

Social networking sites are the major sources for these cyber attacks including with emails attacks. Spammers and cyber attackers use the information provided in Social Networking Sites to launch an attack on other’s PC’s.

Cyber attacks were launched using links in the email. Once the user click on the link present in the email then the malicious program or virus sticks to the system. These files are stored in the local drives and spread through the system later on. It was also found that Bot’s and Robot Software’s are the major reasons for increase in these attacks.
So, if you are a regular Social Networking Sites user then try to follow two major points.
1:Don’t display your Email or Messenger Information to the public. This can bring you new friends, but things might go the wrong way too.
2: No matter what happens don’t exhibit your residential address for physical security. This action proved costly in the past too.
