Fifa 12 demo is finally out and we are so exited to present you a review from our side. I didn’t have much time to download the demo and therefore I requested a facebook friend of mine (Utsuk Sharma) to write a review. I should say, he did a really fabulous job. The review is as follows.
FIFA 12 Demo Review – Utsuk Sharma
If you want me to describe the demo of fifa 12 in one word, then “AWESOME” would definitely be that word. I got the chance to play the demo today and it is freaking awesome. In this review, I’ll try to cover all the points in the order they appear in the demo.
The loading time is way less when compared to fifa 11, so its quite less irritating, the screen cut-videos of rooney doing some tricks here and there makes it even better!! As soon as you start the game, it will ask you for your game pad configuration, you can choose one of the default configurations provided, or you can customize your own controls. Once your controls are configured, then its time for you to select your favourite team from the 6 available teams available in the demo:
-Milan (5 star)
-OM (4.5 star)
-F.C.Barcelona (5 star)
-Arsenal (5 star)
-Bor.Dortmund (4.5 star)
-Manchester City (5 star)
As soon as you select your team, the screen is directed to the fifa 12 interactive tutorial where you it tries to help you adapt to the new defensive system (tactical
defending standing tackle, sliding tackle, jockeying, etc. You can exit from that tutorial mode anytime and jump to the real deal.

In the main menu you have the following options:
kick-off :
Exhibition match : where you can play a match with 3 min half between any two teams available in the demo.
(ii) Be a pro goalkeeper : not accessible in the demo
(iii) Be a pro player : not accessible in the demo
Ultimate team: you can right away access and create your free club and then challenge your friends and the massive online community.
Game modes :
live season : not accessible in the demo
(ii) create tournament : not accessible in the demo
(iii) tournaments : not accessible in the demo
(iv) career mode : its not playable right now….but it gives an idea how its gonna be in the real game. It promises to be more realistic than ever with real life stories, drama, emotions and injuries.
Online : (i) custom games : not accessible in the demo
(ii) pro clubs : not accessible in the demo
(iii) EA sports football club: here you can connect with fifa 12 gamers around the world, gain experience points, compete with friends and track challenges on the web.

THE GUI:
The game is definitely better in terms of graphics as compared to the previous versions of fifa, with players looking a little more realistic and the stadiums and menus also better looking than the previous versions. So, thumbs up EA for that!! But the more cared about point is the gameplay, which is discussed later.
THE GAMEPLAY:
There’s a huge difference in the game-play as compared to fifa 11, so for those who were hoping that they would just jump up tho the legendery level and beat the hell out of others here’s a
news flash :
YOU’VE GOTTA WORK IT OUT MAN!!
As soon as you start the match, you get the option to select your team and the opposite team, but the menu looks awesome with players standing wearing the kit of the respective teams. After that you get to manage you team, change game settings and controller settings. Game settings are not much configurable right now, with the only few options open right now but its pretty much similar to the fifa 11 menu.
In controller settings the control options have changed drastically. where you can change many things like
-auto-switching,
-auto switching move assisstance,
-passing power assisstance,
-pass assisstance,
-through pass assisstance,
-shot power assisstance,
-cross assisstance,
-lob pass assisstance,
-save assisstance,
-analog sprint (now you can really control with how much power you want to sprint the ball according to the amount of power applied on the left analog button)
-
defending (traditional or newly introduced tactical defending).
Assisted, Semi, Manual?
The game supports these 3 game modes Assisted, Semi and Manual. If you are a fifa 11 player then you should have a clear idea about these three game modes. Assisted will give you a great automatic control over the game, semi gives you some control and manual gives no automatic control that’s as simple as that. Just play the game the way you want to play it and don’t comment about anyone else’s personal control preference.
Now, as soon as you enter the game, you’ll find that the build-up shown before the match would amaze you more than the previous versions, where it seemed quite lame (atleast to me).
The environment seems a little more realistic, with the crowd and the stadium graphics improved a bit. As far as the player faces are realistic or not, or whether they are better in FIFA or PES, this debate would still keep going on.
The main point point : THE BALL PHYSICS HAVE IMPROVED DRASTICALLY. You can actually feel the ball while playing. It seems harder than in FIFA 11 and behaves more like in the real world. The ball swing, bounce, etc, all have been touched upon by EA. So again, thumbs up EA!!
Apart from that, the AI also has improved dramatically. Now you wont find players making stray runs or blocking your own shots (which was seriously very irritating in the previous versions!!). Free kicks and penalties are still pretty much the same, except for the ball physics part, where the swing never behaves abnormally. Else, there are new celebration styles and skill moves which you can try out in the game. Players behave realistically to different situations like when they miss a goal or dont get a pass from a team mate in a goal-scoring position or if they are injured.
Talking of injuries, they can certainly happen more often here in fifa 12 because of the PLAYER IMPACT ENGINE, where collisions happen very realistically and hence in case of heavy tackles, the players can get injured. The best part of the gameplay was SKILLED DRIBBLING, where you can dribble the ball with closer control (almost no space) and get out of difficult situations while attacking, unlike FIFA 11 where the players puched a ball a lot and hence the ball could be easily snached away.
So, overall, the game doesn’t dissapoint you after all the hype that had been created prior to the release of the game. All you can do after this demo is wait for the complete version to came and unleash its addiction on this whole world, and with this improvement in the gameplay (and somewhtat in graphics also ) anyone can hardly wait to play the complete version with career mode, manager mode and many more!!!
