Top News is a pre-selected wall-feed, censored if you will, selection. Nobody has yet found out according to exactly which criteria Facebook does this selection. They are suspiciously vage about it. It opens doors to all kinds of manipulations Facebook can perform. Facebook can literally control what people get to read and what not, on an individual basis. For a while it was possible to switch to Most Recent once a log-in, i.e. once a day. Now they let the wall swap to Top News *every time* you leave the page. Most people aren't even aware of this and have no idea that a lot of postings by their friends are invisible to them, and vice versa, their own posts are invisible to their friends. It has become clear, that Facebook does not want people to read everything they want to. They want to control the content of what's going on on their platform. Hail web 2.0!
